Aubameyang is one of the hottest transfer stories in Europe at the moment. The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter Milan have all been credited with an interest in him previously.

And Wright, speaking to Sporf, said that there can be no complaints if the Gabon striker does leave.

“If he did leave, if he was somebody that was tempted away, I’m not sure that people could really fault him at this stage,” Wright said.

“Because you look at Arsenal and the current plight, you have to say we’re going through a transitional period.”

It depends totally on whether Aubameyang has the patience to wait for this to kick in but if he didn’t I’m not sure at his age what people could say, he’s somebody that deserves to be playing at a level where he’s able to win things.”

The former Dortmund striker has been in the goals once again this season for the Gunners. After being the joint-winner of the Golden Boot last season, Aubameyang has fired in an impressive 17 PL goals this year.

Aubameyang will be 31 in just a months’ time. And with the Gunners seemingly nowhere near any sort of success, the striker could well up and leave.

Wright, however, remains cautiously optimistic that the club can convince him to stay put in north London.

“I’m not gonna sit here and say anything other than I wish him all the best with what he does but I pray to God he stays at Arsenal,” Wright added.

Ian Wright knows the club better than most. He’s always open and honest and it’s clear he thinks his former club is a million miles away from achieving anything at the moment.

With that, it’s almost impossible to see Aubameyang staying put. There seems an element of doom about the whole scenario from all involved with the club.

His massive wages, age, and interest from true giants of the game mean it could well be last season we see ‘Auba’ in the Premier League.
