Liverpool have had a brilliant couple of weeks.

Indeed, while the mood was low at Liverpool at one point last month after defeats to Newcastle and PSG, things seem to have lifted as of late.

Wins over Leicester City and West Ham over the past fortnight have put Liverpool on the verge of officially becoming champions, while there have also been some behind-the-scenes boosts.

Mohamed Salah’s contract talks were going well, and now, he’s signed a new contract, while Virgil van Dijk has followed suit in signing a new deal with the Reds too.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has reacted to Van Dijk signing his new deal, claiming that this is magnificent news for Liverpool, noting how next season could be very exciting for the Reds.

Ian Wright reacts to Virgil van Dijk signing new contract

Wright spoke about Van Dijk signing his new deal with Liverpool.

The pundit says that this is magnificent news for the Reds, noting that there is reason to be excited by what is to come next season after a big transfer window.

“It’s magnificent, it’s magnificent news for Liverpool Football Club and for Virgil himself because he loves the place. You add into that Mo Salah’s signing as well, but we actually don’t know what Arne Slot’s team is yet. He came in and he took over Jurgen Klopp’s team,” Wright said.

“They’ve won the league and we don’t know what changes are coming. It’s very exciting to have those two signed up and ready to go with the players that are going to be brought in, it must be amazing now to be a Liverpool fan. A very exciting place with a manager who should get Manager of the Year. Magnificent news for Liverpool, brilliant news for them.”

Who could Liverpool sign this summer?

Wright was excited by the news that Van Dijk had signed a new contract, but he was equally as excited by the idea that Liverpool could be adding new bodies in the summer.

Indeed, as Wright says, Arne Slot is yet to really build his own squad, but that could start this summer as the Reds should have money to spend.

Liverpool failed to sign Moises Caicedo and Martin Zubimendi over the past two years, so that cash should still be available for the Reds.

So, who could Liverpool go for?

Milos Kerkez has been strongly linked with Liverpool recently, and that deal does appear to be moving along nicely.

Meanwhile, Jeremie Frimpong has been linked to Liverpool as Trent Alexander-Arnold gears up to join Real Madrid.

On top of that, Darwin Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool, but, worry not, Alexander Isak has been linked as a potential replacement.

This could be a very exciting summer for Liverpool, that’s for sure.
