Ian Wright reacts on Instagram as Arsenal confirm exit
Daniel Ballard has today left Arsenal to embark on another loan spell away from the Emirates Stadium. The centre-back is yet to feature for the Gunners first-team, having risen through the youth ranks. He has today signed for Millwall on loan and Ian Wright has reacted.
The 21-year-old spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan in League One with Blackpool. He played 30 times for the Tangerines, helping the club win promotion to the Championship under Neil Critchley.
The Arsenal man’s first temporary stint away proved fruitful. Ballard also earned international recognition with Northern Ireland and has now made eight appearances for his adopted country.
Moving up to the Championship looks like a decent next step in his development. He will hope to help Gary Rowett’s men improve on last season’s 11th place finish.
Following today’s loan move getting over the line, the defender took to Instagram. He spoke of his delight and thanked the Millwall fan base for their warm reception.
What has Ian Wright said about Ballard leaving Arsenal on loan?
The Hale End youngster looks to have the potential for a bright future. After a slow start at Blackpool, he became a regular in the team and grew with every single game he played.
Arsenal legend Wright has been known to take a keen interest in the club’s younger players. When Eddie Nketiah went to Leeds during 2019/20, he was a frequent spectator at Elland Road.
He might not be that invested in Ballard’s loan at Millwall. His comments do suggest that he’s a big fan of the player though, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can make it at Arsenal eventually.
Several youth team players replied to his Instagram too. It was definitely the message left by Wright which will have ultimately caught the eye in the comments.
