Ian Wright has reacted after reading an interesting statistic about Arsenal and Manchester City on social media.
Mikel Arteta‘s men face what is undoubtedly their biggest game of the season so far as they travel to Manchester City on Sunday.
Even though Arsenal haven’t won at the Etihad Stadium since 2015, Arteta’s side should be more than up for the challenge this weekend.
The Gunners head into the clash at City off the back of eight consecutive wins in the Premier League. A rare victory at City would put Arsenal four points ahead of the reigning champions with just nine games left to play.
And Ian Wright has been encouraged by a statistic about Arsenal’s record against the ‘big six’ in the Premier League since Arteta’s arrival.

Wright reacts after reading Arsenal and City stat
Wright took to X on Wednesday afternoon and reacted after reading an intriguing stat about Arsenal’s record against the top sides.
It’s claimed that only City have managed more wins against the ‘big six’ since Arteta arrived at Arsenal back in 2019.
Since the start of last season, City have also only managed to pick up one more point than Arsenal in these fixtures.
Wright wrote: “We used to go into these games hoping we didn’t get hammered or hope for a draw.
“Complete performance & culture change under Mikel (+ Edu) can never be underestimated. Everyone needs to be together for this next run because we know Liverpool & City have been here before & DONE it!”
It’s hard to disagree with Wright’s comments as Arsenal went through a miserable spell when it came to beating the top sides in the league.
Arteta has been the key driving force behind this shift of mentality but this weekend should give us a real indication of Arsenal’s title credentials.

Arsenal’s injury concerns ahead of City
Arsenal are currently sweating over the fitness of three key players ahead of Sunday’s crucial title clash.
Bukayo Saka is expected to be fit after withdrawing from the England squad. But it remains ‘touch and go’ for Gabriel Magalhaes while Gabriel Martinelli is is a ‘real doubt’, claims journalist Charles Watts.
It would be a huge blow to be without a couple of key players on Sunday but Arsenal should have no fear heading into the game.
Since the turn of the year, Arteta’s men have comfortably been the best side in the league and a win at City could give them the confidence to see the job through this time around.
