Ian Wright heaped praise on Roberto Firmino after Liverpool’s resounding 3-0 victory over Leicester City last night after the Brazilian went some way to silencing his critics.
The former Arsenal forward was working as a pundit on the game for Australian news channel Optus Sport.
He was impressed with Firmino who has been placed under some pressure recently following the signing of Diogo Jota.
The Portuguese signing also scored last night but Firmino’s goal will give his own confidence a timely boost.

It was only the second time the 29-year-old international has found the net in the Premier League this season and he’ll hope to now enjoy a streak.
Wright was certainly impressed with his performance last night and raved about the star man after the contest.
He told Optus Sport: “What Firmino does for Liverpool, no other player can do that, I’m so glad he got his goal in the end, his work rate is staggering.”
TBR View – Firmino now needs to focus and hit the goal trail
The Liverpool forward will be under no illusions that with Jota now in competition for his place, he needs to go on a goalscoring run.
For so often pundits have been wowed by Firmino’s work rate but ultimately as a centre-forward, goals must also be a mandatory requirement.
Firmino’s determination has never been in question but in recent months his goalscoring has fallen off a cliff at Anfield.

Last night’s strike will do him the world of good though and the £180,000-a-week performer is still an important player.
How Klopp would dearly love the player he has placed such high faith in to now enjoy a run of games on the scoresheet.
Liverpool already look like a force once again and if Firmino starts to fire too, the Premier League had better watch out.
