Ian Wright raves about 'magnificent' Liverpool star for United performance

BBC MOTD pundit, Ian Wright, was full of praise for Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson, after he played a crucial role in the Reds seeing off Manchester United yesterday.

Henderson played in the middle of the park and provided the energy and spark in the middle that both Fred and McTominay lacked for the home side.

Indeed, Henderson had his big moment against United when he threaded a stunning pass through to Mo Salah to put the shine on what was already a stunning performance at Old Trafford.

And speaking on MOTD, Wright believes the pass from Henderson – and his overall performance – deserved more credit.

“Jordan Henderson was absolutely magnificent yesterday. His assist to Mo Salah is one of the passes of the season – if De Bruyne had done it, everyone would be on one. That pass is goals,” Wright commented.

Henderson has been a mainstay of the team in the Jurgen Klopp years. He’s been part of the all the success the team has enjoyed. Arguably, yesterday was the crowning moment in his entire time as Reds skipper.

TBR’s View: Henderson pass at United just a small highlight for a top player

For years, there’s been a narrative around Jordan Henderson that he isn’t quite good enough. But with his performance yesterday, and indeed the massive success he’s had while at Liverpool, the former Sunderland man has surely shut those doubters up.

We saw at times last season when Henderson wasn’t playing that the performance level dipped. He is the energy, drive, and voice in the middle of the park for the Reds.

Yesterday proved more than ever just how good he is. Liverpool need him, and if he does leave at some point, he will take some replacing. Henderson is not quite Gerrard-esque, but his importance to this XI is not far off.
