Ian Wright names the one signing he’d really like Arsenal to make before deadline day

There are just nine days of the transfer window to go, and Arsenal have some work to do.

The Gunners are looking to win the Premier League this season, and while they’re looking very strong at the moment, they need to bolster other areas of their squad.

Mikel Merino is close to joining Arsenal to bolster their midfield, but their attack still needs some surgery.

Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has been discussing Arsenal’s season, and he says that there’s still one signing he’d like to see Arsenal make this summer.

The signing Ian Wright wants to see at Arsenal

Wright spoke about Arsenal this season, claiming that he’d like to see some cover for Bukayo Saka brought in before deadline day.

“Look at those guys, the main guys, Saka, Saliba, Rice, Gabriel, none of those guys got injured and it’s a big worry,” Wright said.

“It was good to see Saka get taken off with 10 minutes to go. Obviously there are still signings to be made and some kind of cover for Saka would be helpful, because the levels he’s getting to and the amount of games he’s playing, at some stage he does need a break.”

Signing Bukayo Saka backup won’t be easy

It really won’t be easy for Arsenal to make the signing that Wright is requesting here.

Any player Arsenal sign at this point has to be quality, and if they are coming in to rotate with Saka, they will have to be happy to sit on the bench for most of the season.

Let’s be honest, Saka is going to start every game he’s able to for Mikel Arteta’s side this term, and any player of requisite quality isn’t going to be happy sitting on the bench every single week.

Arsenal do need more attacking depth, but finding the right player who is happy to join on these terms really isn’t an easy task.
