Ian Wright lauds ‘unbelievable’ Odegaard amid recent Arsenal form

Ian Wright has told Wrighty’s House that it is unbelievable to watch Martin Odegaard as the Arsenal star continues to steal the show for the Gunners this season.

The Gunners have been flying for a few months now. And perhaps no player has done more to inspire Arsenal to pole position in the race for the top-four than Odegaard.

The Norwegian has been pulling the strings for much of the season. And it does appear that he is establishing himself as one of those players who is able to put themselves three or four moves ahead of the opposition.

It did seem a gamble when Arsenal made the move to sign Odegaard permanently. However, he is absolutely setting the standard amongst the Gunners squad right now.

And Wright has now added to the plaudits heading towards Odegaard.

“Watching Odegaard put himself into places where you can get near him so you have to leave him and he just gets on with it,” he told Wrighty’s House.

“You watch him in isolation and it’s a beautiful thing to watch. It’s unbelievable.”

Odegaard ready to realise potential, and Arsenal are set to benefit

It is a bizarre thing to say about a 23-year-old, but Odegaard has been around for about seven or eight years already. In that time, he has been written off plenty of times.

It did appear that his move to Real Madrid may have been a poor decision. And he may be destined to be one of those players who never got close to living up to expectations.

However, he showed glimpses while on loan at Arsenal last year. And he has, most definitely, taken his game to another level this season.

Odegaard is now looking like the player some hoped he would be when he burst onto the scene as a 15-year-old, and Arsenal are the ones now benefitting.

The Gunners have signed him just ahead of what could be the peak years of his career. And Mikel Arteta has put a squad around him who also look to have serious potential.
