Ian Wright has told the Kelly & Wrighty Show that Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey could benefit most from the arrival of manager Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard, 41, joins the club from Rangers until June 2025. He leaves the Gers in first place in the Scottish top tier, with Europa League hopes still alive.
He moves to the Midlands, taking over from Dean Smith at a Villa side that are teetering above the relegation zone after five straight league defeats.
Villa need to get their out-of-form players firing again and Gerrard will be key to that. Emi Buendia, Leon Bailey, Tyrone Mings, and more.
But Wright has identified the one player he feels Gerrard could have the biggest impact on – expecting him to get a “hold of” 20-year-old ace Ramsey.

“Ramsey could be someone at that club that Steven Gerrard really gets hold of and turns into someone something very special,” Wright said.
“Ramsey is from the academy, he scored a magnificent goal against Arsenal, he has everything. He must be very excited to work under Stevie.”
Wright on Ramsey: Villa star could replace loss of fan identification
Last season, a Villa fan could identify themselves with their club. Manager Dean Smith was a boyhood supporter of the club, born in West Bromwich.
Jack Grealish was a fan favourite, a captain and a player that had come through the academy. But the local heart of the club has been stripped.
They have lost both Smith and Grealish – replaced by a Liverpudlian in the dugout. A Jamaican, an Argentine and Danny Ings have replaced Grealish.
So, bringing back that connectivity with fans through a player or manager is key. Ramsey can be that person – if Gerrard gets the best out of him.
