Ian Wright has told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club that Tottenham Hotspur and Jose Mourinho will benefit by selling Christian Eriksen this month, amid reported interest from Inter Milan.
Eriksen, 27, is in the final months of his contract at Spurs and although Toby Alderweireld has signed a new deal, Eriksen remains in the firing line and is expected to leave. It is the Dane’s choice not to sign a new deal, rather than Spurs’ decision.
His form on the pitch, as speculation surrounds the former Ajax star, has utterly detriorated. This season, Eriksen has scored just three goals in 25 league and cup appearances. Players have improved individually under Mourinho, but Eriksen has not.
Arsenal legend Wright has urged Tottenham to offload Eriksen sooner rather than later, and reckons as soon as he has left the north London side – they will begin to move on and improve. While he remains, though, he gives off a “bad smell”.
