Ian Wright has claimed that one decision from Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa against Arsenal helped change the pattern of the game on Sunday.
Leeds were held to a 0-0 draw at Elland Road against Arsenal, who played the majority of the second-half with a man less after Nicolas Pepe’s red card for a headbutt on Ezgjan Alioski.
Despite the fact the game ended as a stalemate, the Yorkshire giants dominated with 66 per cent possession and they also attempted 25 shots compared to nine from the visitors.
Ex-Arsenal striker Wright believed that his former club started brightly, but pinpointed the in-game tweak from Bielsa to push central midfielder Mateusz Klich further up the pitch as a key factor in why Leeds were on top.
“When Arsenal started that game we started it okay, we were getting forward. But then Bielsa just put Klich further forward and that just brought [Granit] Xhaka and [Dani] Ceballos even further back from our frontmen and that literally finished us,” Wright said on his podcast.

TBR’s View:
Leeds will look back at the weekend as two points dropped in the Premier League fixture, as they were the better side of the day and they just couldn’t find the clinical touch in front of goal.
It’s been refreshing to see them take the game to opponents and they’ve largely dominated the ball like they did in the Championship, but the risk is far greater now defensively against better players.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had his hands tied behind his back after the Pepe red card early in the second-half and his side did well to grind out a point, but he needs them to react quickly following some poor results of late and an inconsistent start to the season.
