Ian Wright delivers two-word reaction as Alan Shearer leaves out Arsenal player in TOTW

Alan Shearer included just one Arsenal player in his Team of the Week despite the Gunners winning the North London derby on Sunday afternoon, having come from behind to beat Tottenham Hotspur – and Ian Wright is not impressed.

It was an excellent response from Arsenal after Erik Lamela gave Spurs the lead with one of the goals of the season – finding the back of the net with a rabona, which also nutmegged Thomas Partey. But Arsenal responded, first through Martin Odegaard.

The Norway international scored via a deflection after great work from Kieran Tierney, who gave Matt Doherty a torried afternoon. In the second half, a contentious penalty was scored by Alexandre Lacazette and the scoreline remained 2-1.

But despite their win in what was the biggest game of the Premier League weekend, Shearer only included Emile Smith-Rowe for his display – omitting the likes of Tierney, Gabriel, Partey and Lacazette, who were all excellent during the win.

Gabriel, 23, came back into the side on Sunday to start his first Premier League game since the 4-2 win over Leeds United. He was excellent, keeping Harry Kane quiet throughout despite the England skipper’s recent, excellent form.

Kane was arguably lucky not to see red for a late tackle on Gabriel – and Wright is not impressed that Shearer has failed to include the 23-year-old left-footer in his TOTW.
