'He did nothing': Ian Wright is not happy with £75,000-a-week Arsenal player

Ian Wright has criticised Arsenal star Kieran Tierney for his efforts during last night’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace. A late Alexandre Lacazette goal earned the Gunners a point, despite a drab second-half showing.

The former Arsenal striker was a pundit for Premier League Productions and via the Daily Mail, he has admitted his disappointment with Tierney.

Arsenal led at the interval. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal send the Gunners into the break in the ascendency.

Christian Benteke and Odsonne Edouard struck to turn the game on its head, however, with the Gunners staring at defeat.

Could Centre-Forwards Become Extinct?

Lacazette popped up late on, but Wright has suggested that the late goal was paper over the cracks.

He’s criticised Tierney for his part in a pretty ordinary Arsenal performance.

Wright told Premier League Productions, via the Daily Mail: “I think Palace totally capitalised.

“They did their homework on Arsenal, they closed down the right people and shut down the left side.

“Kieran Tierney didn’t do anything.”

Wright criticism of Arsenal star Tierney seems harsh

Although Tierney was quiet last night, it’s worth remembering how many times he’s come up trumps when Arsenal have been poor in the past.

The left-back is hardworking, passionate and leaves everything out on the pitch whenever he pulls on a red and white jersey.

Tierney, 24, arrived at Arsenal in 2019. He checked in from Celtic for £25 million and has proved a really significant addition.

He has had some injury concerns during his time in North London and last night was his 70th appearance for the Gunners.

The £75,000-a-week player won’t produce the good every week; although it’s fair to say he shines for Arsenal more often than not.

Tierney is an integral part of Arteta’s team and these comments suggest that Wright was just unhappy at how Arsenal played last night.
