Gunners legend Ian Wright has reacted on Twitter, after Mesut Ozil broke his silence after being left out of Arsenal’s 25-man Premier League squad.
The playmaker will not be able to feature for the Gunners in the league between now and when managers can submit their updated squad lists in February.
He has already missed out on the club’s Europa League squad, meaning there is a very real possibility that Ozil faces never playing for the club again.
The situation has always been shrouded in mystery, with no one really quite sure why he hasn’t been making any matchday squads in recent times.
Speculation has been rife, but the truths of the matter remains undisclosed.
One man who has had a vested interest in the situation is Ian Wright, who said on Twitter: “Football will never stop surprising me. The fact that whatever has gone on couldn’t be resolved between the club & Mesut is sad.
“Sad for everyone involved and I can only send him strength for what will be a difficult few months knowing he won’t even have a chance to play. Gutted.”
On a statement for his social media channels, Ozil stated that he was deeply disappointed to have missed the cut for the Premier League squad, accusing Arsenal of lacking loyalty.
There was also a message of support from Ozil’s former international teammate Jerome Boateng, who said: “Chin up bro, I’m 100% sure you will show everyone what you got soon again!”
TBR’s View – A strange old situation
There will be a lot of Arsenal supporters who share Wright’s view, but there will also be many people who don’t.

That divide is, really, a testament to how mysterious the whole situation is.
It’s realistic to assume the facts will likely come out once Ozil leaves the club.
If the German feels hard done by, he may feel compelled to eventually dish the dirt and talk about specifics.
