Leeds United have confirmed that youngster Nohan Kenneh has put pen to paper on professional terms after turning 17 on Friday, signing a deal that will keep him at Leeds until 2022 – and Leeds legend Ian Harte has reacted.
England Under-17 international Kenneh has astounded many within the Thorp Arch academy – playing in central midfield and defence and coming on leaps and bounds, much quicker than the normal rate of development.
Indeed, Kenneh has already outgrown Mark Jackson’s Under-18 side and has played regularly for Leeds’ reserves under Carlos Corberan. Kenneh, though, was part of the Leeds side that beat Sheffield Wednesday on penalties in the FA Youth Cup.
Kenneh posted on Instagram after putting pen to paper on his first professional terms with the club – a two-and-a-half-year deal that will see him remain until he is 19. He stated that he is delighted, but knows the “hard work continues”.
Kenneh’s chances of breaking into the first team will be helped not only by Marcelo Bielsa’s trust in youngsters, but that he is able to play in multiple positions – something which Bielsa requires from the majority of his first-team players.
Leeds legend Harte, who has entered the world of football agents and looks after Jack Clarke among many others, suggested he brokered a deal by commenting on Leeds’ confirmation – “glad to help”.
