Micah Richards thinks Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson should be in England’s World Cup squad this year.
Wilson has got off to a decent start this season for Eddie Howe’s men as he bagged a brilliant goal against Nottingham Forest on the opening day.
The 30-year-old has been a brilliant goal scorer for Newcastle since joining the club from Bournemouth for £20 million back in 2020 (Sky Sports).
But Wilson has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons which has hampered his progress at St James’ Park.

Richards thinks Wilson should be in World Cup squad
Despite Wilson’s recent injury record, Richards thinks England boss Gareth Southgate should take Wilson to the World Cup in Qatar.
He told Sky Sports: “He’s [Wilson] just a nightmare to play against because throughout the game, you’ll win all the headers, you’ll be aggressive. And then you switch off for one minute and he’ll just come behind you and that is the difference with Wilson.
“A lot of players want to come to feet and look pretty, but he’s a different option. And we talked about England and you mentioned it there, I would have him just because of that, having that impact off the bench
“I think if you’re looking at fitness, it is an issue and when you go to a tournament you want everyone fit. But just for that composure in front of goal.”

Southgate certainly has a decent list of options in terms of strikers. His captain Harry Kane is undoubtedly first-choice but the remaining places seem open at this point in time.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was part of the European Championships squad last year but has also struggled with injuries since.
While Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins haven’t been able to find the net consistently for Aston Villa.
If Wilson continues his promising start to the season and stays fit, a place could be up for grabs for the former Bournemouth man.
