‘I would expect’… Harry Redknapp says £22m Tottenham player could change positions in January

Heung-Min Son has been brilliant for Tottenham this season.

The South Korean had a quiet campaign last time around, but, this term he’s looked so much better.

That’s partially down to his fitness improving, but a position change has also helped matters.

Indeed, Son has moved into that number nine position after the departure of Harry Kane in the summer, and it’s fair to say he’s made that spot his own.

However, according to Harry Redknapp, speaking on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel, another position change for Son may be on the cards in January as he says Spurs should go out and sign another striker and shift Son back to the left flank.

Son could move back to the left

Redknapp shared his verdict on the £22m man.

“They’re good. They need a striker, they need a striker, someone who can go up front,” Redknapp said.

“Would you then expect Son to go back out on the left?”

“Yeah, I would expect Sonny to go back out wide again, but where do you find a frontman? Where do you find one? Where are they? Who is around? It is so difficult any time to buy one.”

Bigger priorities

As nice as it would be for Tottenham to get a striker through the door in January, it has to be said that there are bigger priorities at hand here.

Indeed, if there’s one thing Tottenham aren’t struggling with this season it’s scoring goals, but their lack of depth at the back is a real issue.

Son’s long-term future may be on the left wing as Tottenham eventually sign another top-class striker, but, for January, we’d imagine that Spurs won’t necessarily be in that market and they’ll be happy for Son to proceed as the starting centre-forward.
