Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has outlined his hopes of getting another two years at Parkhead on top of his existing contract, which runs out in the summer of 2022.
The 29-year-old has been with Celtic for just over six years, making 234 competitive appearances for the Hoops and scoring 115 goals since his £1million switch from English club Wolves in January 2014.
Griffiths had a lengthy spell out earlier in the season due to injuries and personal problems, and was slowly reintegrated back into the starting XI ahead of the winter break.

After the winter break, he scored eight goals – including a hat-trick last time out – and claimed three assists in 12 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Griffiths’ contributions helped Celtic surge 13 points clear of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and reach the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup by the time the league was suspended.
Speaking with Open Goal, the striker was asked if he could finish his career at Celtic and he said: “Yeah. If I can do well in the next year, I will try to get myself another two-year deal.
“That will take me to 34. Then we will see where we go after that. I want to do my coaching badges too. I can’t see myself as a manager, but I could be a strikers’ coach.”
TBR View:
Griffiths has enjoyed a superb career at Celtic so far and has done tremendously well to overcome personal problems and get back to his best before current events took hold and saw the league suspended.
The Scotland ace is a huge fan favourite at Celtic and you’ll struggle to find any Bhoys who wouldn’t want him to remain with the reigning champions for longer, and potentially even hang up his boots whilst in the green and white hoops.
