Xherdan Shaqiri has shared – via TuttoMercatoWEB – that he will sit down and discuss his future at Liverpool after Euro 2020.
The winger is currently with the Switzerland squad for the European Championship, but has an uncertain future at Anfield. He played a heavily reduced role in Jurgen Klopp’s plans last term, with the 29-year-old only featuring for 32 minutes over the final 10 league games.
Shaqiri also started just five of his 14 Premier League outings and neither of Liverpool’s FA Cup ties last season. He has now been put up for sale, per The Athletic, as Klopp strives to raise more than £60million.

Shaqiri is unlikely to be short of suitors in the transfer window, with interest already surfacing from across Europe. Jose Mourinho is thought to want the 92-cap forward at Roma but faces competition from Sevilla, per Calcio in Pillole.
Maurizio Sarri also wants Shaqiri at Lazio, according to Corriere dello Sport. Yet the Italian could miss out, after FotoMac previously claimed the forward’s agent and brother, Erdin, had approached Fenerbahce over a move to Istanbul.
Shaqiri has now stated that he will sit down with his agent to discuss all potential transfers after Euro 2020.
“I would rather not talk about it right now,” Shaqiri said. “I am still under contract at Liverpool. After that [Euro 2020], I will speak to my agent and we will look together, we will assess the situation and make a decision.”
TBR’s view: Shaqiri will plot Liverpool exit
Shaqiri is right to focus on Euro 2020 rather than his future at Liverpool right now to help Switzerland get as far into the tournament as possible. But it is inevitable that he will sit down with his agent after the European Championship to discuss a transfer.
Shaqiri will be hell bent on avoiding another season spent mostly on the bench next term. And if that means leaving Liverpool, he will have to hope a suitor is willing to meet the club’s demands.
Klopp will likely not miss Shaqiri at Liverpool if he secures a transfer, given how infrequently he featured. Harry Wilson may get a chance to establish himself at Anfield, as well, with the 24-year-old also set to discuss his future this summer.
