West Ham lost 6-0 to Arsenal last weekend, and that defeat only raised more questions about the future of David Moyes at the London Stadium.

Despite delivering consistent European football and even a trophy for the Hammers in recent years, Moyes is under pressure at West Ham as his contract heads towards its expiry.

The Scot’s future at the London Stadium is far from secure, and according to Alex Crook, speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Moyes has never been further away from signing a new deal with the Hammers.

Indeed, Crook says that he was told directly after the Arsenal defeat that Moyes has never been further away from signing a new deal.

David Moyes not close to new West Ham deal

Crook shared what he knows about the West Ham boss.

“Arsenal served out their revenge in an emphatic nature on Sunday afternoon, and I was told in the aftermath of that game that David Moyes has never been further away from signing a new contract, I think the next few games will be crucial,” Crook said.

Difficult

This is a very difficult situation for West Ham to manage.

On one hand, it really does feel as though the club has hit its ceiling under Moyes, but, then again, Moyes doesn’t have the club in a bad position, does he?

Yes, the thrashing against Arsenal was embarrassing, but West Ham are still in the top half of the table while maintaining a Europa League run as well.

There’s a temptation to roll the dice in an attempt to push on, but, at the same time, as we saw the last time Moyes left West Ham, there’s no guarantee that the next man in will be any better.
