‘I was saying’: Bruno Fernandes now shares what he said to Marcus Rashford after he missed golden chance vs Tottenham

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has now shared with Amazon Prime what he said to Marcus Rashford after he missed a golden chance against Tottenham Hotspur.

United were by far the better side during the opening period and Rashford was presented with a massive chance to give his side the lead.

Fred played a perfectly weighted ball through to the striker but he was denied by Hugo Lloris, who got down excellently to make the save.

This was pretty much the pattern of the game for Antonio Conte’s side, who were fortunate that Lloris was on top form last night.

If it wasn’t for the Frenchman, it could have been a whole lot worse than a 2-0 defeat. United were regularly creating openings and Fernandes has said his side were confident after the first-half.

Fernandes shares what he said to Rashford

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the game, the United man shared what he told Rashford after missing the first big chance of the game.

“I was saying to Marcus when he missed the first chance, I was saying to him don’t worry, if we create chances we will get closer to scoring goals,” Fernandes said.

“Obviously you get frustrated if you’re not scoring goals, but we had many chances in the first-half and the belief of the team made us win the game today.”

It’s a worry for Spurs how frequently United were able to create promising openings throughout the game.

Conte’s men were lucky to go into half-time level but Fred’s deflected effort put the Red Devils ahead at the beginning of the second-half. Fernandes then secured the three points for United with a brilliant finish.

Spurs put in another underwhelming display away from home against one of the top six sides.

They have fallen to defeat at the Emirates already this season and were fortunate to take a point away from Stamford Bridge.

Conte’s men seem to be going into the big games away from home with a defeatist attitude.

The Italian’s system has worked brilliantly for Spurs during his time here and you can’t argue with the results he’s produced so far. But it seems that a low-block just isn’t working against the top sides in the league.

Spurs will certainly have to be more adventurous in big away games in the future as last night they lacked any real purpose going forward.
