'I was like what?': Even some Chelsea fans can't believe what Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has said now
Even some Chelsea fans have been left shocked by Mikel Arteta’s honestly following Arsenal’s defeat to Chelsea yesterday.
Shock at Chelsea
Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates Stadium and they looked like a team who were a cut above Arsenal.
After the game, Arteta admitted that Chelsea were just too strong for his side, and that is the reason why they are champions of Europe.
“They were the better team. When they play at their best, which I think they did today, they are champions of Europe, have world class players and to match at that level is difficult,” the Spaniard said to Sky Sports.
It was an eye opening comment, to hear Arsenal’s manager effectively admit that they struggle to match Chelsea’s level right now.
And while the statement may be a truthful one, many Blues fans were caught off guard by Arteta’s words.
Can Arsenal even get close?
Arsenal and Chelsea were once great rivals, but it is difficult to see how Arteta’s side can even get near to Thomas Tuchel’s men this year.
The two teams could hardly have started the season in more contrasting fashions.
While at Chelsea confidence is building that they could mount a title charge, there are real fears about the direction in which Arsenal are heading at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have now lost their first two games of the season without scoring a goal, and they face Manchester City next, meaning things could get worse before they get better.
