Liverpool forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, has admitted that he was looking for a permanent move away from Anfield before sealing a loan switch to Union Berlin.
The 23-year-old Nigerian is still a Liverpool player but is struggling to get a work-permit to come to England and be given his chance. That has meant loan spells for the entirety of his Reds spell, with Berlin the latest to capture Awoniyi on loan.

But despite admitting he ‘dreams’ of playing for Liverpool, Awoniyi has conceded a permanent move away has been on his mind. (ESPN)
“This season was maybe a bit tough to make the decision because honestly, I was hoping to leave permanently. Liverpool have been great, they have been so supportive and we always talk with the director and every time, they tell me to be patient.
“But the reason I discussed something permanent this season was just that I felt most loans I have been to, have not really been the way I want it.”
Awoniyi has only scored one goal this season but did enjoy a decent spell with Royal Excel Mouscron in the 18/19 season, where he scored seven goals.

However, at 23 and with no sign of a work-permit coming to fruition just yet, it does like the Reds forward may well move on.
Liverpool should sell if they can get a fee – TBR View
There just doesn’t seem much point in Liverpool keeping hold of Awoniyi here. It’s not like he is a teenager either, he is 23, so should already be well into his development in the game.
It sounds like Awoniyi has accepted his fate too and seems keen to simply get on with playing some football at a regular location.
If the Reds can get a fee for the Nigerian, then it might make sense for them to cash in now and get some funds in the bank.
