Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the current contract situation of Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.
Conte’s contract runs out at the end of the season, although there is the option for the club to extend it, and negotiations are set to get underway soon.
Romano said on House of Champions on YouTube that a proposal has not been made yet and one is not imminent.
But that is because Conte is focused on the football right now, during a frantic period before the World Cup, which provides an opportunity for talks.

Romano on Conte
Romano said: “They are prepared to back Antonio Conte and basically give him what he wants.
“They are prepared to make this proposal. From what I’m told, to be 100 per cent clear, I was checking today, there is still no proposal on the table.
“Not direct negotiations yet between Conte and Tottenham. They know Antonio. Antonio is now 100 per cent focused on Premier League and Champions League. They are not going to enter into contract talks now.
“There is this World Cup break which is the perfect opportunity to discuss. The official proposal will arrive in November or December and then there will be a negotiation.
“I am told Conte is on a lower salary than he was on at Chelsea and Inter. It’s not about the money. It’s about the project.
“He wants to make sure that Tottenham are going to be ambitious in the next years. It is also about his family, he always decides his future together with them. It will take time, it won’t take one or two weeks.”
Conte is suspended for arguably the biggest game of Tottenham’s season so far tonight, when they travel to face Marseille in the Champions League.
Spurs need a result to ensure progression after coming agonisingly close to doing exactly that in the last round of matches.
Harry Kane thought he had got the job done but after an explosion of noise at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, VAR ruled the goal out.
Conte did wonderfully well to get Spurs into the Champions League last season, and it would be a major blow if their campaign did not continue into 2023.
