Callum Wilson has been speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast and admitted he was ‘disappointed’ after Newcastle United’s 4-1 win over Fulham.
Eddie Howe’s men put in an impressive display at Craven Cottage on Saturday and travelled back to Tyneside with an important three points.
Wilson got back amongst the goals on his return to action after being sidelined for over a month. But the 30-year-old wasn’t content with his display and feels he should have scored a hat-trick.
The Magpies striker grabbed a real poacher’s effort in the 11th minute as he was first to react to Joe Willock’s header across the Fulham box.
But he hit the post just moments before the goal and West Ham United striker Michail Antonio even poked fun at him for the miss on the podcast.

Wilson admits he was disappointed after win
Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Wilson admitted that he was annoyed after the game.
“I’m disappointed I didn’t score a hat-trick, just because of the chances and opportunities that I had,” he said.
“Two good chances for my standards to put that in and I scored. I was annoyed at not getting three.
“It was a tricky game, I think Fulham are a good side and ultimately the sending off killed the game for them.”
Fulham were reduced to 10-men in the eight minute of the game after Nathaniel Chalobah was sent-off. And the chances certainly flowed for Newcastle afterwards.
Wilson received a brilliant cut-back from Willock after his opener and created a yard of space for himself. But his effort whistled just wide of the top corner.

Eddie Howe will be delighted to have Wilson back after the striker had been sidelined ever since the 3-3 draw with Manchester City.
Isak is currently out injured alongside Chris Wood, so Wilson’s return could not have come at a better time for the Newcastle boss.
Miguel Almiron bagged a superb brace against Fulham while Sean Longstaff got amongst the goals in between the midfielder’s efforts.
Howe will be relieved to see his side finding the back of the net again after only scoring three goals in their four games prior to the 4-1 win over Fulham.
