'I want him': Callum Wilson says he's desperate to see 28-year-old Newcastle player score against Chelsea

Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has told the Footballer’s Football Podcast that he’s desperate to see Miguel Almiron score against Chelsea this weekend.

Almiron has been in breathtaking form over the past month and has scored in each of Newcastle’s last four games.

The 28-year-old has now bagged eight goals in 14 games for the Magpies and been a standout performer at St James’ Park.

And Wilson says he wants to see Almiron score against Chelsea this weekend to edge closer towards breaking a long-standing Premier League record.

Wilson desperate for Almiron to score

The longest goalscoring streak in the Premier League is currently held by Jamie Vardy, who scored in 11 consecutive games during Leicester City’s famous title-winning season.

Almiron is some way off at the moment but Wilson wants to see his teammate move one step closer to the record this weekend.

“I want him to score in the next game so he’s getting closer to Premier League history,” he told the Footballer’s Football Podcast

“He’s got 12 to beat with Vardy, so Miggy [Almiron] has a lot to go, but the way he’s going at the minute he’s doing alright!”

Almiron has completely turned his Newcastle career around this season and is becoming a key player under Eddie Howe.

He’s got a long way to go to get close to Vardy’s record but he’s enjoying a brilliant run of form recently.

The Magpies are flying high and currently sit third in the Premier League table after picking up some emphatic wins in recent weeks.

They face a tough test on Saturday as they host Graham Potter’s side but a win would certainly be a huge statement from Newcastle.

Chelsea are going through a slight dip in form under their new boss of late, having lost consecutive Premier League games.

Almiron will probably fancy his chances of extending his goalscoring streak in front of a sold out St James’ Park this weekend.
