John McGinn has jokingly tweeted that he was never nutmegged by Jacob Ramsey in Aston Villa training yesterday.

Nutmeg… or not?

Villa released footage last night of Ramsey cleverley flicking the ball between McGinn’s legs in the rondo, which drew great celebrations from the claret and blues players.

However, upon video evidence – the ball did appear to clip McGinn’s legs on the way through.

And the Scot was appealing that the nutmeg should never have counted on social media website Twitter last night.

Exciting times at Villa

Villa spirits do at least appear high over pre-season, despite the departure of their assistant manager, John Terry.

Terry announced this week that he would be stepping down from his job as Villa assistant in search of managerial opportunities.

That may have caused some disruption to Villa’s pre-season plans, but it does look like it could be a hugely exciting campaign at Villa Park.

The claret and blues have shown great ambition in the transfer window already, and Dean Smith’s side are expected to bring in even more quality over the coming weeks.
