There’s been a lot of speculation about Erik ten Hag and his relationship with his Manchester United players this week.
Numerous journalists were banned from the manager’s press conference due to stories about Ten Hag losing the dressing room, and speculation only continues to grow on that front.
Speaking on The Stand with Eamon Dunphy, former Manchester United midfielder, John Giles, has been discussing this current United squad, and he’s highlighted one player he thinks has had a bust-up with Ten Hag now.
The pundit reckons that Anthony Martial and the manager may have gotten into an argument at half-time against Newcastle over the weekend, claiming that the Frenchman didn’t even look like he was trying for most of that game.

Giles reckons Martial and Ten Hag have had words
The pundit shared his verdict on the Red Devils’ squad and Martial.
“They just weren’t at it, Rashford hasn’t kicked a ball all season, he was a disgrace on Saturday. They’re still playing Martial, he was a real trier, that’s the best you can get from him, but he didn’t even try, he just wanted to get out of the ground at half-time, I think he had a big row with him at half-time, it looks lost between the manager and the player there,” Giles said.
Not looking good
Regardless of whether these reports about continuous bust-ups with the players are accurate or not, it has to be said that this isn’t a good look for Ten Hag or Man United.
Performances on the pitch would suggest that the players are no longer playing for the manager, and these constant suggestions in the media will only pile the pressure on.
We’ve seen this situation play out numerous times at Old Trafford over the last decade, and, usually, it only ends one way.
Ten Hag needs to get a grip of this situation, otherwise, his days will be numbered.
