Glenn Hoddle believes Tottenham Hotspur are still short of being able to win the Premier League title this season.
In fact, Hoddle believes Spurs could still challenge for silverware this season, and thinks they’re in the best position they’ve been in for years: “Can they (Tottenham) win the league this season? I don’t think they can win it, because I don’t think Chelsea can win it, Tottenham, Arsenal, all those teams below Liverpool and Man City.

“I still think it’s a two-horse race. I think there might be a spell where some of these teams have a little spell at the top, but I think Tottenham are going to have a better season than they’ve had for a long time.
“I think they’re (Tottenham) going to go toe-to-toe with anyone, physically, technically, tactically.
“It would be nice if a bit of silverware came their way again, but I think it would be domestic.”
Hoddle believes Tottenham are short of challenging for Premier League
Despite being a Tottenham legend, Hoddle’s comments reflect a realistic look at Spurs’ chances this season.
A dominant victory against Southampton on the opening day was followed up by a draw against Chelsea, although they were lucky to come away from Stamford Bridge with a point.
Liverpool’s slow start to the season could open the door for another challenger, however, Manchester City already look as strong as they did last season, and the addition of Erling Haaland has certainly helped.
North London rivals Arsenal could end up being Tottenham’s biggest challengers for a Champions League place, with Gabriel Jesus starting his Arsenal career exceptionally well.

Antonio Conte will be looking to his new signings to elevate the side from their fourth place finish last season, with Conte naming one man in particular likely to strengthen his first team.
Tottenham haven’t added to their trophy cabinet since the League Cup in 2008, and Hoddle’s belief that a domestic trophy might be their best chance of silverware makes sense.
Conte will be aiming to finally end that run this season, and with the new strength in depth his squad now has, you would expect the Italian to field a very strong side in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup this season.
