Aston Villa are genuinely one of the best teams in the country right now.

The Villans are unbeatable at home right now, and they’re not too bad on their travels as well.

Unai Emery’s side recorded a historic win against Manchester City on Wednesday, and now, they’re breathing down the neck of the top two.

Speaking on Manchester City’s YouTube channel, Emile Heskey has been discussing Villa’s Premier League title credentials ahead of their game against Arsenal this weekend, and he says that his former club are most certainly in the conversation to win the league from here.

Villa are title contenders

Heskey shared his verdict on the Midlands club ahead of their game against Arsenal.

“Arsenal have to go to Villa Park at the weekend Emile, if Villa beat Arsenal then they have to be in the conversation don’t they?” Heskey was asked.

“I think they are in the conversation and I think it’s great to see so many teams in the conversation. For far too long we’ve seen City run away with it and Liverpool pushing them creating a big gap between the top two and the rest of them. I’m from Leicester so I understand when Leicester won it, and I thought they’d fall away, but they kept going, so let’s hope we see these teams keep going and pushing,” Heskey said.

Huge game

Villa showed against City on Wednesday that they’re good enough to beat any team in the league, and if they can win against Arsenal at the weekend, they will be right in the mix to win the title.

A win against Arsenal would potentially put them just one point off the top of the table, and with Christmas just around the corner, that is a fantastic position to be in.

This weekend’s game will be massive in terms of deciding where the league title ends up this season, and this may well be the most eagerly-anticipated Premier League game Villa have played for the past decade.
