‘I suppose’: Kevin Campbell names the Arsenal player who’s most at risk of being dropped by Mikel Arteta

Kevin Campbell believes that Albert Sambi Lokonga is most at risk of losing his place in the Arsenal team.

Speaking to The Highbury Squad, Campbell was asked about Arsenal’s likely line-up after last weekend’s fixture postponements.

Campbell said: “Well the most (likely to benefit) is Thomas Partey as it gives him the chance to shrug that tight thigh off.

“Who benefits the least? I suppose it’s Sambi Lokonga.”

“Who’s been playing, who’s been starting and has done all right as far as I’m concerned.

“But if Thomas Partey’s fit and you should expect him to be right for Brentford, he’s got to come straight back in.”

Campbell’s opinion on Partey’s return is likely to be shared by many Arsenal fans.

The Ghanaian international has been one of the Arsenal’s key players this season.

Partey also doesn’t really have a natural replacement in the squad, with second choice Mohamed Elneny also injured.

Campbell thinks Lokonga will lose his place

Lokonga joined Arsenal from Anderlecht for a fee of around £17m last season.

The one-time Belgium international was thrown straight into the team by Arteta after he arrived, and featured in all-but-one of Arsenal’s first 13 games.

However, his minutes dropped off quickly, and he found himself falling down the pecking order.

There were rumours that Lokonga might leave the club in the summer, with Jose Mourinho’s Roma reportedly interested.

However, Arteta will be glad he stuck around after Arsenal’s injury woes in midfield.

Arsenal’s inability to bring in Danilo or Douglas Luiz on deadline day has also benefitted the Belgian.

Lokonga now looks set to lose his place in Arsenal’s team for their match against Brentford if Partey is fit.

However, he still remains Arteta next option off the bench, and given Partey’s injury woes, Lokonga can expect to be brought off the bench to manage his minutes.
