With Arsenal playing at 3pm today and Newcastle United kicking off at 12:30pm, some Gunners fans were keeping tabs on the Magpies game.

Arsenal academy graduate Joe Willock delivered a great performance for Eddie Howe’s side as they picked up a 1-1 draw at West Ham.

The 22-year-old, who the Gunners sold to Newcastle for £20million last summer, equalised for the Magpies.

Craig Dawson had opened the scoring for the hosts, heading home on 32 minutes from an Aaron Cresswell free kick.

However, Willock got Newcastle back on level terms just before the break.

The Hale End graduate guided the ball over the line off the far past, with goalline technology awarding the goal.

Willock’s celebration was reminiscent of Alexandre Lacazette’s, and some Arsenal fans felt he was paying tribute to the Gunners.

Here’s what some were saying on Twitter:

His goal aside, Willock clocked up a number of impressive statistics against the Hammers.

He completed all of his passes in the final third and boasted an 88% pass accuracy.

Willock also won seven duels, completed four take-ons, and recovered the ball six times.

In addition, he had five shots, won two tackles, and made an interception and a block.

Willock’s goal also helped Arsenal out in their battle for a spot in the Premier League’s top four.

The Hammers are also fighting for a Champions League place, and are now just one point below the top four.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are four points ahead of the bottom three. Burnley and Watford both won their 3pm games.
