West Ham United were one of the biggest spenders in the transfer window this summer.

David Moyes’ side made eight permanent signings as they looked to improve their squad in multiple positions.

Gianluca Scamacca will provide important competition for Michail Antonio.

Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer gives Moyes plenty of central defensive options.

Speaking on the Kelly & Wrighty Show, Ian Wright was asked about the best new signings in the Premier League.

Wright named a few players, before saying he thought West Ham’s new Brazilian Lucas Paqueta will be a brilliant signing.

Wright said: “I think Paqueta as well at West Ham. I should mention him. I think he’s going to be a good signing. Really good player, left-footed, Brazilian.”

Wright thinks Paqueta will be a brilliant signing

West Ham fans have already seen glimpses of Paqueta’s talent since his £51m move from Lyon.

The Brazilian international started his first game for Moyes’ side against Chelsea last weekend.

The match was somewhat overshadowed by a very controversial VAR decision.

However, Moyes’ has already been impressed by the 25-year-old.

Paqueta is capable of playing either as a central attacking midfielder, or as a wide playmaker.

He’s even been deployed in a deeper role in the past during his time at Lyon.

That versatility, along with his impressive creative streak, makes him a real asset at West Ham.

Paqueta enjoys dropping deep to pick up possession and to lose his marker before progressing the ball up the pitch.

He’s certain to be a nuisance to defend against and will create plenty of chances for his teammates.

He loves a killer through ball, which will certainly suit the pace of teammate Antonio.

There’s a lot to come from the Brazilian, and Wright is correct in thinking Paqueta is a brilliant signing for West Ham.
