Theo Walcott has named who he believes are the three best wingers in the world.
This is a very difficult question to answer as there are so many fantastic wide players in the game right now.
From Vinicius Jr all the way to Leroy Sane, some of the best footballers in the world right now play out wide.
Speaking to ESPN on TikTok, Theo Walcott has had a go at naming his three best wingers in the world, and all three of the players he chose are current Premier League stars.
Indeed, Walcott chose Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah ahead of the likes of Vinicus Jr, and, somewhat controversially, he named Gabriel Martinelli as another player he believes is one of the top three wingers on the planet.
Gabriel Martinelli is one of the best in the world
Walcott spoke about the £6m man.
“Three best wingers in the world right now?”
“Oh I said this earlier, I went for Saka, I went for Salah and this is the one that could be questionable I suppose to a lot of people. I was struggling to think of wingers, and I like my wingers to be positive, Martinelli I really like,” Walcott said.
Getting there
Whether or not you agree with Walcott that Martinelli is one of the best wingers in the world, it has to be said that the Arsenal star does now belong in this conversation.
The winger is a top class player who has so many positive attributes.
However, in our view, he’s not quite a top three winger in the world just yet.
He’s not won a trophy so far in his career, and he’s not even won a Champions League knockout game. Meanwhile, the likes of Sane and Vinicius Jr have won big titles and impacted the biggest games at the highest level.
Martinelli is certainly getting there, but he has some way to go before he’s legitimately in this conversation as one of the best wingers on the planet.
