'I really like him': Thierry Henry's a big fan of 26-year-old star who Tottenham are reportedly trying to sign

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly trying to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada – a player who Thierry Henry is a big fan of.

Antonio Conte has already brought in two midfielders during his time as Spurs boss. Tottenham signed Yves Bissouma over the summer after bringing Rodrigo Bentancur in back in January.

Bissouma is still finding his feet in north London while Bentancur has been a revelation in midfield. But Spurs seem to be lacking a creative midfielder and they are targeting Kamada as a result.

Bild reports that Tottenham are keen on the idea of signing the 26-year-old, with his Frankfurt contract set to expire during the summer.

The attacking midfielder enjoyed a brilliant World Cup with Japan before being knocked out on penalties at the hands of Croatia.

He’s also been a standout performer for Frankfurt this season, registering an impressive 12 goals and four assists in 22 appearances.

His performances has even earned him praise for Arsenal legend Thierry Henry – who said Kamada is a ‘very good player’.

Henry’s a big fan of Kamada

“Daichi Kamada, I came across him when he was playing for Sint-Truidense in Belgium,” Henry told CBS Sports last month

“I like the way he thinks. I like the way he plays. Typical Japanese player.

“Not really strong, he doesn’t jump too high and he’s not really fast – but he is there (inside the box). What he does very well is that he always appears in the box.

“Yes, it’s an easy goal, but you have to be there to score them. He can’t run past people, so what he does is he lays it off, then make sure he follows and makes it inside the box. He stays alive every single time.

Spurs are certainly lacking a creative player in the middle of the park and Kamada would fit the bill.

Their struggles were evident while Dejan Kulusevski was ruled out for over a month and Conte will need other similar options in his squad going forward.

Kamada has shown brilliant versatility throughout his career, having played as wide-forward and striker, as well as his natural position in midfield.

With his contract running down, he could be an attractive option for Spurs and they could even consider securing a cut-price deal in January.
