Gabriel Agbonlahor has given his verdict on whether Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should try to bring Dominic Solanke to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.

The former Aston Villa striker and talkSPORT pundit does not think that Solanke would be a good signing for Arsenal.

So, what has Gabriel Agbonlahor said about Arsenal and Dominic Solanke? Let’s take a look.

Arsenal told to avoid signing Dominic Solanke

Well, Arsenal have been linked with former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke.

The Gunners are on the hunt for a new striker in the January transfer window, and Solanke is on their radar.

According to The Daily Star, Arsenal are looking at a potential deal for Solanke if they are unable to convince Brentford to sell them Ivan Toney.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will personally “push for Solanke’s arrival if an agreement for Toney can’t be reached”, according to the report.

Bournemouth now value the striker a £50 million, having signed him from Liverpool in 2019 for £19 million.

Former Aston Villa striker and talkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor does not think that Solanke, 26, is good enough for Arsenal.

Agbonlahor said about speculation linking Solanke with Arsenal on talkSPORT (4:20 pm, December 18, 2023): “I don’t know, I don’t know. It’s a big jump, it’s a big jump to a team that is fighting for the title. I don’t think Solanke is Arsenal level, I really don’t.”

Solanke not at Arsenal’s level

In my view, Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is not good enough to be the main striker for Arsenal.

If Arsenal are looking for a quality number 9 who can score 15 to 20 Premier League goals per season and has experience playing for an elite club, then they should look at someone like Victor Osimhen.

Solanke has done well for Bournemouth. He has improved a lot since leaving Liverpool and is a very hard-working striker.

But, he is not very prolific. Solanke has scored only 19 goals in 113 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. Eight of those goals have come this season.
