‘I promise’: Joe Rodon says Spurs have a player in their ranks who’s better than Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon has waxed lyrical about Spurs and Wales teammate Gareth Bale, deeming him the best player he’s ever played alongside.

Bale returned to Spurs on loan from Real Madrid in September and, following a difficult few months back in North London, is now fully up and running.

He has registered four goals and two assists in his last four Premier League games as well as two goals and one assist in the two Europa League round of 32 games against Wolfsberger.

Bale ran riot against Palace at the weekend, netting twice and creating chances for his teammates en route to a resounding 4-1 victory.

When asked on Tottenham’s Twitch channel who the best player that he has ever played with was, Rodon picked Bale, naming his compatriot ahead of Harry Kane.

“Harry Kane… nah, I’m joking. Harry is up there, but I’m going to go with this man sitting next to me [Gareth]. I promise it’s true,” he said.

It’s fantastic to see Bale finally up and running following a difficult few months at Spurs, the Wales international answering his critics and naysayers.

Kane and Bale are both superstars, and putting Rodon on the spot like that was always going to result in an answer that some wouldn’t have liked.

That said, Bale was always likely to edge it in Rodon’s eyes, given he’s got more experience of playing with his compatriot as well as a strong friendship.
