‘I missed him’… Darren Bent says he wishes he’d have played with £11m player at Tottenham

Darren Bent had the pleasure of playing with some fantastic players during his career, particularly at Tottenham.

Indeed, Bent shared the pitch with the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Dimitar Berbatov during his time at Tottenham, but there remains one player he regrets not being able to share the pitch with.

Speaking on Filthy Fellas, Bent stated that he wishes he could’ve played with Mousa Dembele at Tottenham, but, unfortunately, the £11m man and Bent’s careers didn’t overlap at Spurs and they missed each other.

Bent wishes he could’ve played with Dembele

The striker spoke about some of his teammates and his desire to play with Dembele.

“Modric was the best player from day one,” Bent said.

“Did you play with Mousa Dembele? Bent was asked.

“No, I didn’t, I missed him, but I wish I had played with him,’ Bent said.

“Luka Modric was the best player from day one, we said straight away when he came in that Spurs would be a stepping stone. He was so intelligent, he never gave the ball away. Honestly, he was so good.

Shame

We can’t blame Bent for regretting not being able to play with Dembele, because the Belgian was a class player.

There’s a reason all of his former teammates speak so fondly of him.

The midfielder could do it all, he never gave the ball away, he was strong in the tackle, and he could get forwards.

Bent, of course, banged in tons of goals during his Premier League career, but the one club where it didn’t quite click was Spurs, but we can’t help but feel that things could’ve turned out slightly differently if Dembele had been playing in the same team as Bent at that point.
