Tottenham Hotspur’s Ivan Perisic has admitted he is homesick and misses Inter Milan, the club he left during the summer.

Antonio Conte engineered a reunion with the Croatian international he worked with at the San Siro, signing him on a free transfer in the summer.

Perisic is currently at the World Cup and played a big part in Croatia’s 4-1 win over Canada on Sunday to put them in a strong position to qualify.

And in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, he admitted he misses his former club and the city of Milan after joining Spurs.

Perisic admits he is homesick

“I miss it sometimes,” Perisic said.

“Inter and Italy will always be my home. Milan is the place that I’ve stayed the longest in my footballing life.

“Homesick? A little bit but I’ll be back soon and have something important to do.

“The Champions League against Milan awaits me…”

Spurs face AC Milan in the first knockout round of the Champions League when European football gets back underway in the new year.

It is strange to think about the Champions League right now when we are halfway through the unprecedented winter World Cup.

Perisic helped Croatia make the final last time around and although it would be a surprise if they repeated that feat this time around, they were very impressive against Canada.

They are in pole position to top the group, which would give them a more favourable knockout draw as the tournament progresses.
