Tottenham Hotspur fans are delighted to see Eric Dier nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for August.
Wonderful start
It’s fair to say that Dier went into this campaign facing a sizeable amount of questions.
Dier didn’t looked particularly solid under Jose Mourinho, and there was a widespread feeling at Spurs that he needed to be replaced.
At the start of the summer there was even speculation that Dier, who is on an £85,000-a-week contract (Sportekz), could be sold.
However, Tottenham have not conceded in any of their first three games.
During this time Dier has formed a partnership with Davinson Sanchez which has been rock solid.
And Tottenham supporters are delighted to see Dier back to his best again.
Back in the England squad?
Dier’s latest run of form could even get him back into England contention.
Dier’s languishing form at Spurs had cost him his international place, but he is now looking to be right at the top of his game under Nuno.
It is also worth recognising just how well Sanchez has played in the early part of the campaign too, even though he wasn’t nominated for the award.
Tottenham’s solid base has led to them taking maximum points from the first Premier League games and topping the table at this early stage of the season.
Nuno’s men return to action in two weekends’ time with a clash against Crystal Palace.
