When Ange Postecoglou was the Celtic manager, the fans loved the swashbuckling style of football that the Spurs supporters are now enjoying in the English Premier League.

That all-out attacking style kept the Celtic supporters on the edge of their seats, made every game at Celtic Park a sell-out and delivered five trophies out of six in a two-year spell that produced another treble, Celtic’s eighth in their history.

It really was a great time to watch the Hoops. And that is exactly what Inverness Caley Thistle manager, Billy Dodds admitted to.

The former Rangers striker was speaking about his upcoming game against Morton when he confessed that he loved watching Celtic when Ange was the manager.

Dodds said [The Press & Journal], “Morton and Arbroath play football in line with the personnel they’ve got. They don’t try to over-complicate it.

“I loved watching the way Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic played, but I would not ask players at Championship level to try to play that way, taking chances.”

Indeed, Dodds faced Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final last season and whilst his team were dogged and defensively well-organised, he couldn’t stop Ange Postecoglou’s side from lifting the cup in the 3-1 win at Hampden.

Goals from Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada and Jota sealed Celtic’s world record eighth treble to leave Dodds’ Inverness side heartbroken.

Celtic have since struggled to match that high-intensity style of football under Brendan Rodgers that the fans had gotten so used to under Postecoglou. But recently, the wins over Livingston and Dundee have shown glimpses of that all-out attacking style of football the Celtic fans love.

Fingers will be crossed that Rodgers can get his players to produce that kind of football on Saturday against Rangers as Celtic look to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
