Arsenal legend Ian Wright says he is so happy with what Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has said after leaving Manchester City.

Wright spoke on the Wrighty’s House podcast and has congratulated Bynoe-Gittens after he grabbed his first goal for Borussia Dortmund last week.

The 18-year-old left the Manchester City set-up back in 2020 to join the Bundesliga outfit and has now broken into the first-team.

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho also forged a similar path at a young age which worked out brilliantly for the player.

And Wright is impressed by what Bynoe-Gittens has said since he left the Premier League champions.

Wright happy with what Bynoe-Gittens said

On the Wrighty’s House podcast he said: “When you see this guy, his story. He was at Reading at seven, Man City at 14. He’s another one of those players that has been at Man City and said ‘I’m gonna leave here’.

“He’s always played above his age group. He went to Dortmund in 2020.

“You know what I love, he mentioned Jadon Sancho was at City and he was doing bits, scoring in the 18s, scoring every game. And he said ‘you’ve got to take stuff from other people to make the best version of yourself. Now, you’ve got to score and assist to be the best’.

“At 18, if you’ve got that mindset now, fingers crossed he steers clear of injuries and that. But he’s on a good trajectory. He sounds like his mind’s right.

“This is why I’m giving him flowers because I love to hear and see somebody of that age with their mind right. Not afraid to go out of his comfort zone, come somewhere and knuckle down, get it done and stay focused.”

The England U19 international made four appearances for Dortmund last season but now seems ready to make the step-up this campaign.

Bynoe-Gittens made his first appearance of the new season against Freiburg last Friday and netted his first goal for the club.

More young English talents are moving to European leagues and regular first-team football seems to be benefiting them massively.

Sancho played brilliantly for the German outfit and developed into one of Europe’s best up-and-coming talents.

Bynoe-Gittens will be hoping to follow a similar path and is clearly making an impression in Germany already at such a young age.
