Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has waxed lyrical about the Gunners, telling Desimpedidos about his ambitions at the Emirates Stadium.

The 19-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Brazilian side Ituano FC last summer for £6million, has been a sensation in North London since his arrival.

With 10 goals and four assists from 26 Gunners appearances last term, Martinelli became the first teenage goalscorer to reach double figures for Arsenal since Nicolas Anelka in 1998-99.

It didn’t take long for transfer links to appear, with the Daily Mail claiming back in March that Real Madrid were interested in him during the January transfer window.

However, any potential suitors wanting to prise Martinelli away from Arsenal would now have to pay a huge sum, given he signed a new long-term deal just last month.

According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal tied the Brazilian down to a four-year deal with the option of a fifth, as well as a pay rise – just a year after initially joining the Gunners.

And Martinelli himself cannot wait to continue on his adventure, hopefully winning Premier League and Champions League trophies along the way.

“I have just signed a five-year contract here and I will stay five years here,” the teenage prodigy told Desimpedidos.

“And if they renew with me again I will stay at this club. I love, I love this club. I dream of winning the league and the Champions League here.”

For a player who has not long turned 19 to be one of Arsenal’s most impressive players last season and getting linked with Real Madrid is testament to just what a potential superstar Martinelli can become.

Martinelli has already received plenty of plaudits, with the likes of Arsenal legend Bob Wilson calling him “unbelievable” and praising his “god-given” ability (Omnisport via Goal.com).

Cesc Fabregas, meanwhile, named the youngster as the one player in the current Arsenal squad he wished he could be playing alongside now.

And Bernd Leno told Soccer AM: “He can become a world class player. World class 100 percent because he has talent, he has quality.”

With the feeling more than mutual, Martinelli will be one to watch next year as the Arteta renaissance enters its first full season.
