‘I knew’: Dejan Kulusevski admits he was screaming at £40m Tottenham defender just seconds before winning goal vs Leeds United

Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski has admitted to the club’s official website that he was screaming at Davinson Sanchez just seconds before the winning goal against Leeds United.

Spurs left it late to secure a 4-3 win against Leeds on Saturday after going behind three times during the game.

Goals from Harry Kane and Ben Davies got Spurs back on level times twice before they fell behind once again in the 76th minute.

A quickfire brace from Rodrigo Bentancur secured all three points for Antonio Conte’s men in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Kulusevski played a vital role in the winning goal as he set-up Bentancur after beating Robin Koch on the right-hand side.

And the Swedish winger says he was screaming at Sanchez to pass the ball to Harry Kane just seconds before.

Kulusevski was screaming at Sanchez

The move started with Sanchez playing a smart ball behind the Leeds midfield into the feet of Kane.

The £40 million man’s pass was then hit first-time by Kane into the path of Kulusevski, who did the rest to create the winning goal.

And Kulusevski says he was desperate for Sanchez to play the ball into Kane as he could already see the possible opening.

He told Spurs Play: “First of all, I scream on Patron here, Sanchez. I scream a lot. I was like ‘Harry, Harry, Harry, Harry!’

“Because I knew that if Harry gets the ball then I’d be alone and that’s exactly what happened.

“So I saw the whole section before it happened and then my first-touch was very good here and then I pray to God that Rodrigo would score.”

Sanchez has come under scrutiny this season after delivering some shaky performances but he did well to pick out Kane at that moment.

Spurs have missed Kulusevski massively over the past seven weeks and he was once again influential in Saturday’s win.

His awareness for the third goal was exactly what Spurs have been missing and Conte will be delighted to have the winger back.
