'I just have this feeling': Mark Lawrenson predicts Leeds vs Crystal Palace result; expects three goals

Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he has a feeling Leeds United will soon burst into life as he predicted that Marcelo Bielsa’s side will beat Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Leeds remain in a precarious position in the table. They drew 0-0 at Brighton on Saturday. And it appeared to be a performance that did not alleviate the fans’ concerns about this season.

They have only beaten Watford and Norwich so far this term. And they have a daunting run of games coming up, with Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool lying ahead in a four-game run in December.

Palace are next up. And Patrick Vieira’s men are looking to bounce back from a frustrating result at the weekend. They were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa.

Lawrenson fears that it will only be after the return of Patrick Bamford that Leeds look a lot more like their old selves. However, the pundit backed the Whites to prove a point.

“It might take until Patrick Bamford returns from his ankle injury to get the Leeds attack firing again but they are not on a bad run of results, having lost only one of their past five league games,” he told BBC Sport, as he predicted a 2-1 win for Leeds.

“This is a tough one to call, because Crystal Palace have been playing well. I just have this feeling Leeds will burst into life soon, the way Leicester did against Watford at the weekend.”

Crystal Palace and Brentford games look to be make or break for Leeds

Of course, Leeds will believe that they can take some points from that run of daunting games next month. But there is no doubt that they will be heavy underdogs in each game.

With that in mind, the clashes with Crystal Palace and Brentford look to be huge for the Whites.

Should they fail to win both, there will be major concerns about what position Bielsa’s men will be in going into the turn of the year.

Leeds fans will hope that the goalless draw with Brighton can be looked back upon as a positive – by still managing to take a point with a performance that inspires them to improve significantly the next time they play.
