The January transfer window is just around the corner, and Arsenal, as ever, are at the heart of a number of rumours.
Indeed, there’s been plenty of chat about incomings and outgoings at Arsenal over the past 12 months, and according to some reports, Thomas Partey is being courted by some Saudi Arabian clubs.
Partey has been linked with a £35m move to the middle-east, but speaking in Inside Arsenal, Charles Watts has raised some doubts around these rumours.
The journalist has claimed that he doesn’t believe these rumours at all, claiming that he would be stunned if any team were to pay this sort of fee for Partey given his age, contract status and injury history.

Partey to Saudi not on
Watts shared his verdict on these rumours.
“There have been reports in Italy that Steven Gerrard’s side and a couple of Saudi sides are interested in Partey. They’ve put a pricetag on of £35m, but yeah, £35m, I just don’t believe that. I can’t believe a team would pay £35m for Partey given his age and that he has a year on his contract and his injury record. I honestly think if someone bid £35m for Thomas Partey now they would take it,” Watts said.
Unlikely
We have to agree with Watts, it’s hard to imagine that these rumours are true, at least at that price.
Yes, the Saudis are flush with cash, but they’ve hardly been overspending on transfer fees.
The wages over there are ridiculous, but when it comes to signing these players, the Saudi league teams have largely been paying market value and even getting a few bargains here and there.
Partey at £35m would not be a good deal, and it’s hard to see him moving for that price.
