‘I hope’…David Seaman says he’s desperate to see £30m Arsenal player start for his country tonight

David Seaman has been speaking about the England game tonight and has said he really hopes Aaron Ramsdale gets a start for the Three Lions.

Ramsdale has firmly become the number two at Arsenal to David Raya. This, despite Mikel Arteta’s insistence that there are two top players vying for the same position in his eyes.

Since then, Ramsdale’s Dad has caused a bit of a stir by admitting that the stopper is far from happy at being number two and that the Gunners boss hasn’t even spoken to him about Raya being the main man.

For now, Ramsdale remains in England’s squad and is predominantly the number two to Jordan Pickford.

And speaking on his Seaman Says podcast, former Gunner David Seaman has said he’d love Ramsdale to get the nod against North Macedonia tonight.

Speaking on his podcast ahead of tonight’s game, Seaman admitted he hopes to see the Arsenal goalkeeper make the starting XI.

“I hope he does rotate. I hope it’s Aaron. Aaron is obviously going to be playing at the weekend because of the loan situation with Raya, so that will be a nice little start for him ahead of this week,” Seaman said.

Ramsdale himself will be hoping to get the nod as well. The stopper has been visibly frustrated at times and as Seaman points out, he could do with the match sharpness ahead of this weekend.

The £30m signing can count himself a tad unlucky in terms of his situation in north London but with England, he can have few complaints.

Jordan Pickford has been outstanding ever since Southgate took over and there’s little reason to see why he is going to be dropped any time soon.

Don’t be surprised, then, if Pickford keeps his place tonight as well.
