'I have seen a difference': 'Special' Everton player lauds Ashley Cole for helping him reach full potential
Frank Lampard has brought in his former Chelsea and England teammate to Goodison Park and he is looking for success in his first full season in charge.
For Patterson, having Cole around is a real opportunity to keep improving and he shared the relationship between the pair in an interview with the Times.

“We will sit down and talk over the game together,” Patterson of Cole.
“I go back over them myself, make some notes and take them to him. It is good to self-analyse and if there are some things I am not too sure about, then you have one of the best full backs to have ever played to ask for advice.
“It can be things like body shape, giving myself more opportunity to influence the play and reacting quicker to switches in play so that I have the best chance of being the one who makes the first contact.
“You just want to take as much as you can in. We have been doing it from the start of the season and I have seen a difference. It has benefited me.”
Patterson has been called ‘special‘ by Barry Ferguson around the time he made his move from Rangers to the other side of the border.
He is now starting to show that ability which convinced Everton to sign him, after an injury-affected period earlier this year.
Working with Cole is a surefire way to get the very most out of his potential and Lampard will be hoping for more and more from the Scotland international.
