Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus got the Gunners up and running in Tuesday night’s Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal opened the scoring in the 65th minute of the match against the Reds at the City Ground.
Oleksandr Zinchenko weighed in with a quick throw-in, which Jesus took in his stride past two Forest defenders.
From an outrageously tight angle, the 26-year-old poked the ball through the legs of Matt Turner at the near post.
Arsenal had been applying the pressure for a while and were rewarded for their efforts, with a little help from their former employee’s poor goalkeeping.
BBC Sport pundit Dion Dublin, speaking on Radio 5 Live, could barely believe what he saw from Jesus.
“I have no idea how [Jesus] has squeezed that in there,” Dublin said, as per the BBC Sport website.
“He is inside the 18-yard box and he must be three yards out and three yards from the byline.
“And I’m thinking ‘no way, there’s no space’… Matt Turner is stood with his hands on his hips.”
Dominant Arsenal do enough to see off Nottingham Forest
Arsenal went on to add a second on 72 minutes as Bukayo Saka finished off a great counter-attack with help from Jesus and Martin Odegaard.
Forest halved the deficit late on as Taiwo Awoniyi got the better of William Saliba and pounced on the loose ball to blast past David Raya.
However, Arsenal shut up shop and managed to hold on for victory, securing three crucial points that moved them two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.
The victory is no less than the Gunners deserved, having dominated proceedings in the East Midlands.
Arsenal had 74 percent possession, weighed in with 19 shots, and won 11 corners. And though they could’ve been more clinical, they did enough to get over the line.
