‘I have a lot of respect’: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would clearly relish Jurgen Klopp reunion

Liverpool are reportedly joining the race to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal this summer.

The Gabon international is out of contract in 2021 and Arsenal have made no progress in securing an extension for the player. 90min is now reporting that Liverpool are set to join the race for the forward.

It would see Aubameyang reunite with his former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, who has previously said some extremely adulatory things about the forward.

But the feeling is mutual.

Aubameyang, who has scored 20 goals for Arsenal this season, is a huge fan of Klopp, as he explained in 2016, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“He told me, ‘I know that you young players want everything right away. But you have to learn.’

“I worked hard in training, I stayed behind after training. That’s what helped me to shine in the Bundesliga because I scored quite a lot of goals despite some difficult games in the league.

“Klopp gave me strength of character and helped me progress. He’s a charismatic person and I have a lot of respect for this man.”

So undoubtedly the Arsenal star would relish the chance to work with Klopp yet again at Anfield.

If he was available at the right price, there is also no doubt that Klopp would love a player of Aubameyang’s quality at Liverpool.

However, that said, the Reds are still well-stocked in attack with Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane creating one of Europe’s greatest attacking trios.

Time will tell if Liverpool decide the opportunity to bring in a player of Aubameyang’s talents, who has such a strong relationship with Klopp, is worth stacking the deck in attack.
